Rules

General

  • 8-a-side plus up to three substitutes with rolling substitutions.
  • Played across half a full size all weather pitch.
  • Approx. 25 minutes each way allowing 5-10 minutes for warm up and half time change.
  • THE USE OF BLADES OR MOULDED STUDS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED (Stadium Rules). When highlighted by the opposing team the player must get off the pitch immediately and put suitable footwear on or just not play. Refusal to do this forfeits the game for the offending team.
  • ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR SHINPADS. When highlighted by the opposing team the player must get off the pitch immediately and put some on or just not play. Refusal to do this forfeits the game
  • Games cost £30 per team payable to the organiser only

The Game

  • Normal apply FIFA rules including
  • No overhead height restrictions.
  • Throw-ins occur when the ball crosses the YELLOW line at either side of the pitch.
  • No back passes to the goalkeeper.
  • Do not stop play if another ball enters the playing area unless instructed by the referee.
  • The referee’s decision is final.

Exceptions to normal football rules include

  • Offside does not exist.
  • Free kicks are awarded for sliding tackles (contact or not).
  • Goal kicks and corners occur when the ball hits the backboard as there is no dead ball line.
  • If the ball hits ‘the post’ or back board and bounces into the goal then it is in and a goal is awarded.
  • If the ball hits ‘the post’ or back board and bounces back onto the pitch then consider it as being out of play so corner/goal kick.
  • Corners should be taken no more than 1m away from the back board.
  • The goalkeepers area is marked by the red line, approx 3m in front of goal, that runs side to side across the pitch.  Width is approx 2 posts either side of the goal itself.
  • Corners should be taken no more than 1m away from the back board.

Sinbin/Yellow/Red Cards

  • Yellow card = sin bin for 5 mins to cool down.
  • 2 x Yellow card in same match or straight red card = 1 match ban.
  • If it happens twice you will leave the league for the season (or possibly forever).

Altering Fixtures

  • If a team discovers they cannot field a team they should ask if it is possible to rearrange the fixture. It may be possible.
  • If not, players may be borrowed from other teams to make up numbers and ensure the fixture goes ahead.
  • Any team not turning up will charged both teams pitch fees, ie £60 and forfeit the game.

Forfeiting Games

  • If a team has forfeited a game when listed above their opposition will receive a token 1-0 win for the inconvenience created.
  • The forfeiting team will also be deducted a point as punishment so every other team in the league benefits from the action.

THE COMMON SENSE RULE / DISCLAIMER:

Whilst every effort is made for your safety by hiring suitable sports venues, applying the rules above and providing referees to enforce them it is down to yourselves to use common sense and play sensibly. This league is run on a sociable basis in my own time and not as a business. Being an idiot ruins it for others, will get you banned from the league and possibly close it down as the aggravation is not required.
